Hello all. I encounter a problem with Windows Server 03.

I try to install Windows Server 03 with Gigabyte motherboard (model:
GA-8I945GMH-RH).
However, it cannot install the intel lan driver successfully.
So, are there any solutions?

Thanks and Regards,
Spike

Thanks for your reply.
Refer to your questions,

1) I am using the onboard vga of the motherboard model Gigabyte
GA-8I945GMH-RH.
However, both the vga and intel chipset cannot install sucessfully.
I have tried the intel 945 and intel chipset driver but neither is ok.

2) The system works well with XP, but not Server 2003.

3) I have tried the latest inf driver but it does not work.
By the way, since the intel does not have vga (945) driver for 2003, so
I don't know what I should do.

Looking forward to receiving your reply.

Best regards,
Spike
Dear Customer,
Thanks for your post.
Before we go any further, I would like to confirm the following information with you.
1. Would you please let me know the detailed information about the vga? (manufacture, model and driver version).
2. Does the device work on other computer and operation system?
Now I would like to suggest that you first install the latest update for driver? Then try to install the latest driver again.
Clean Boot
------------------------
1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. On the SYSTEM.INI tab, expand [drviers], and verify the "wave=mmdrv.dll" is checked. (If there is no such item, please add it, and restart the computer to test the issue.)
3. In the Startup tab, click the "Disable All" button.
4. In the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" checkbox, and then click the "Disable All" button.
5. Click OK and restart your computer.
Please test this issue on the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
If anything is unclear or you have any concerns, please feel free to post back. I am glad to be of assistance.

Dear Tom Zhang,

Sorry for my late reply.

Thanks for your help and I will contact gigabyte for more information.

Besides, I have some questions about the license of terminal server.

If I connect the terminal server (win2003server) by a XP client, what
license do I need ?
I have read through the licensing server website but I am still not clear
with it.
So, would you give me more information ?

Thanks & Regards,
Spike Chan
Dear Customer,
Thanks for your reply.
Based on my research, GA-8I945GMH-RH is not in windows 2003 Windows Catalog and HCL. I recommend you contact GIGABYTE for more dedicated assistance.

Dear Tom,

After reading your post, I am clear about the license, I still have some
questions though.

Take per user mode as an example,
If I buy 5 per user CAL, then 5 users will be allowed to connect to my
terminal server.
But, what will happen if I do not activate the licensing server after 120
days ?
No one will be able to connect to my terminal server ? Or only the first
user will be able to connect to it ?
How about the remote desktop function ? Will it expire together with the
terninal server ?

I know these are simple questions but I want to make sure what's the
consequence.

Thanks you for your information provided.

Best regards,
Spike Chan

Sorry that I have questions again.
Let me make an example so that I will be more clear with the situation.

Now, I have a computer with Win2003 server installed (Take this as a server).
I want to let 5 users to connect to my server and set the server to Per User
Mode.
2 of the users are using Win2000 and others are using XP Pro.

The question is: What types of licenses are need ? Please let me know if I
am wrong.
1. 1 * Windows 2003 server license(s)
2. 5 * Per User CAL(s)
3. 2 * Windows 2000 license(s)
4. 3 * Windows XP Pro license(s)
Any other ?

Finally, would you mind giving me the websitel with pricing list of User CAL ?

Thanks & Regards

Dear Tom,

I am clear to the User CALs and the Device CALs now after your explanation.
Thanks very much.
However, I am still confused with the Licensing Server. Could you please
explain more for the following sentence:

"""To use the TS CALs of Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server, we need to
install it on a Windows Server 2003 Licensing Server not Windows 2000
Licensing Server. If you don’t have Windows Server 2003 Licensing Server, the
Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server will not have any Licensing server.
Windows Server 2003 Licensing Server can use the TS CALs of Windows Server
2003 Terminal Server and Windows 2000 Terminal Server."""

Do you mean licensing server is only available for Windows Server 2003? How
about Windows 2000?

Thanks very much.

Best regards,
Spike Chan
